BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING
Duration of Course: 4 YEARS
The B.Sc. Nursing program at Gandhimathi College of Nursing is a four-year, full-time course spanning eight semesters, designed to prepare students as competent registered nurses qualified to work in both public and private healthcare sectors. This program follows the credit-based and semester system, adhering to the Indian Nursing Council (INC) regulations, 2020. It encompasses foundational, core, and elective courses, with electives offered through a choice-based modular system. Additionally, modular learning is integrated into both foundational and core courses, ensuring a comprehensive and well-rounded education.

INTERNSHIP
- Duration: 22 weeks (8th Semester)

ADMISSION GUIDELINES
- The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st December of the year in which admission is sought
- A Candidate should have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks taken together in PCB at the qualifying examination i.e., (10+2). Furthermore, the candidates belonging to SC/ST or other backward classes, the marks obtained in PCB taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 45% as stated above, English is a compulsory subject in 10+2 for being eligible for admission to B.Sc. (N)
- Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government having science subjects and English only
- English is a compulsory subject in 10+2 for being eligible for admission to B.Sc.
- Candidate shall be medically fit.
- Selection of the candidates should be based on the merit of the entrance examination held by university or competent authority.
ATTENDANCE
- A candidate is required to put in a minimum of 80% of attendance in both theory and practical separately in each subject.
- A candidate lacking in the prescribed attendance in any one subject in Theory & Practical in the first appearance shall not be permitted for admission to the examination of the subject
- A candidate must have 100% attendance in each of the practical areas before award of degree.
- Final year marks shall be withheld till the candidate completes required attendance for practical internship.
SCHEME OF EXAMINATIONS
- Theory and practical examinations will be conducted at the end of each semester.
- The minimum passing marks are:
- 40% for English and elective modules
- 50% for all other subjects in both theory and practical examinations
- Candidates must pass theory and practical exams separately for each subject. Failure in either requires reappearing for both theory and practical exams.
- All previous semester examinations must be cleared before appearing for the 5th and 7th semester examinations. However, candidates may continue attending consecutive semesters.
The maximum duration to complete the course shall not exceed 8 years.
INTERNAL ASSESMENT
- Periodic internal assessments will be conducted for both theory and practical in all subjects, with marks awarded based on the assigned weightage for each subject.
- Students are expected to maintain high academic and clinical performance standards throughout the program.
- The internal assessment evaluates candidates on multiple aspects of their performance, and parents/guardians will be informed periodically about their progress.
- Theory and practical assessments must be passed separately.
Candidates who fail the internal assessment will be given an opportunity for improvement.
ELIGIBILITY FOR AWARD OF DEGREE
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) degree will be awarded to candidates upon successful completion of the prescribed four-year course, including all academic and clinical requirements.
Attendance
The candidate should have 80% attendance in theory & 100% in Practicals. Students should have completed all the requirements prescribed for each course of study before the admission to examinations.
- The candidate who lacks in the prescribed attendance & progress in any one subject (theory & practical) in the first appearance shall not be admitted for the examinations.
- There shall be no candidate for lack of attendance.
Scheme of Examinations
Theory & practical examination shall be conducted at the end of the I, II, III & IV year’s respectively in subjects as per the syllabus.
- Minimum pass mark shall be 50% in each of the theory & practical papers respectively.
- Minimum pass mark shall be 40% for English only.
- The candidate has to pass in theory & practical examination separately in each of the papers. It a candidate fails in either theory or practical paper, he/she has to reappear for both papers.
- Maximum number of attempts permitted for each paper is three including first attempt.
- A candidate failing in more than 2 subjects will not be promoted to the next gear. The candidate shall not be admitted to the subsequent higher examination unless the candidate has passed the previous examination.
- The maximum period to complete the course shall not exceed 8 Years.
Internal assessment:
- There shall be periodical internal assessment in theory and practical for all subjects & marks will be awarded according to the weight age given to each subject.
- The students are expected to maintain high standards in academic and clinical performance throughout the programme. The internal assessment of each candidate shall be done in all aspects of performance and parent / Guardians are informed time to time
- Theory and practical examination should be passed separately. Any candidate who fails in the internal assessment shall be given an opportunity to improve the internal assessment.


Eligibility for award of degree: The candidate will be awarded the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing when he/she has completed the prescribed courses or study for 4 years with all course requirements.
Laboratories: As per the INC norms, Laboratories such as Nursing Arts (Fundamentals Lab), Anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, nutrition, pathology, microbiology, child health nursing, community health nursing, and midwifery and obstetrical nursing etc are equipped for the students to learn with demonstration.
A.N.M (Auxillary Nurse Midwife) NURSING DEGREE PROGRAMME
The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.
The maximum age for admission shall be 35 years.
The minimum educational requirements shall be 10+2 in Arts (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, Sociology, Psychology, and Philosophy) and English Core/English Elective or Science or Health care Science – Vocational stream ONLY passing out from recognized Board.
Student shall be medically fit.
Students qualified in 10+2 Arts or Science examination conducted by National Institute of Open School.
Student shall be admitted once in a year.
Basic of selection for admission


ANM
100% seats will be filled by the management on the basis of the merit list prepared by the college and interview and follows the norms of Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
Application Procedure
From the date of admission notification – Prospectus and the application forms can be obtained from the office of the Principal on payment of Rs. 250/- (ANM) or can download the application and filled in application can be submitted with Rs. 250/- in the office
The candidate must fill in all the items in the original application form in her own handwriting. The application submitted should be complete in all respects.
